Chthonian: Tollers of the Forest

Name: Tollers of the Forest

Alternate Name: Haniwailing

Description: Tollers of the Forest is one of the Unborn Remains. A set of four Chthonians that are a result of Infant Chthonians not surviving the birth process. If an infant does not survive in its fruit the corpse will fall to the ground and be absorbed into it. On some occasions Tollers of the Forest will emerge. They are hallowed out Haniwa statues in the shape of bells. It uses the calcified corpse of the infant as the clapper of its body.

Behavior: Tollers of the Forest remain stationary in the area they died and suspend themselves in the air trough unknown methods. As they float, they will sway their bodies producing a loud ringing similar to a church bell. Within the rings are the anguished cries of the infant. Though they are capable of movement they rarely have been seen moving choosing instead to remain where they died.

Threat: Toller of the Forest does not present any threat to humans although they can be startling when exploring the forest of Vallice. They have been observed ringing franticly when something comes near them although why is currently unknown.
