Chthonian: Astrarex Keter
Name: Astrarex Keter
Alternate Name: Elarai-Ra
Description: Astrarex Keter is a white lagomorph-like Chthonian with insectoid attributes. It has two pairs of arms and antennae which end in flowers. It has fangs and large insectoid eyes. It was wings which are often tucked within its ears which also function as elytron. In its forehead is a gemstone that has been reported to change colour. It has a large tail shaped like a magatama. At the end of this tail is a stinger that glows along with the spot on both sides of the tail. The glow is caused by the venom this Chthonian carries.
Behavior: Astrarex Keter seems to have deep compassion and love for other Chthonians. It can often be seen interacting with the Chthonians around Vallice and aiding them when needed. This most likely is the reason for the deep respect and admiration this Chthonian receives from others of its kind with some revering it as a king. Some say this Chthonian is appointed by the Chthonian god to lead his people resulting in its species name. Astrarex Keter means “The Celestial King’s Crown” further establishing this Chthonian’s importance. When not interacting with Chthonians, it is observed pollinating the various flowers and plants in Vallice. One can observe what plant it last pollinated by observing the flowers at the end of its antenna. These flowers will change and produce fruit of that plant Astrarex Keter last pollinated. Strangely, there has only been one Astrarex Keter witnessed at a time with no new infants being born. As of now there is only one recorded Astrarex Keter.
Threat: The second name for this Chthonian reflects its violent nature towards humans. The name is a play on “El-ahrairah” the character from Richard Adams 1972 novel “Watership Down”. The name means “The Prince with A Thousand Enemies.” Astrarex Keter will attack any human that comes near. This usually starts with a sting from Astrarex Keter. The venom will cause the victim’s wound to glow making it difficult to hide from Astrarex Keter’s ongoing assault. If one were to escape, the glowing venom would act as an allure to other Chthonians. Avoid this Chthonian at all costs.
